Berndt Savig
Trained in Italy, Berndt Savig is a visiting artist from Colorado with nearly 20 years of teaching experience.
Berndt Savig has been involved in the visual arts his entire life. He first studied stone carving in Tuscany, at La Poggerina outside of Florence, Italy, in a program run by Paolo Barruchiari. In 1996 started the Boulder Sculpture, through which he made site specific architectural accents and ornaments, commissions for homes and gardens and original works for sale in Boulder, Colorado and the Front Range of Colorado.
After being a professional artist for a number of years, in 2005 received his MFA in painting, drawing and sculpture from the University of Mississippi in Hattiesburg. Taught sculpture and fine art at Red Rocks Community College for 18 years in Lakewood, Colorado, and has instructed for years at the Marble Institute symposium in Marble, Colorado, and has been a guest instructor at 2sculpt in Lawrence, Kansas. Has attended sculpture symposiums in Colorado, Vermont, and regularly sculpts in Carrara, Italy.
